FOOD & WINE
The
menu at Rose’s Café takes its inspiration from
Italy. The philosophy
behind the food is all about simplicity - using the best
and freshest of ingredients to create flavors that represent
the Bay Area. The use of local ingredients ensures freshness
and helps support the immediate local farmers and vendors.
When
serving food that is simple, flaws can be exposed. To lessen
those flaws, the chefs start with great product,
and
then accent that greatness with careful preparation. The
product philosophy is strict: much of the produce used at
Rose’s Café is organic and from small local
farms; the meats are all natural (no hormones, antibiotics,
insecticides or herbicides are used in the feed or on the
pastures), and the only fish served are local, Pacific Northwest
fish, or hook & line caught fish; the cheeses are Italian
or locally produced; the flours are organically grown including
our polenta, beans & grains; only the best available
oils, vinegars, spices, grains & pasta are used (and
fresh pastas are made daily onsite); the milk is organic,
the coffee is from Café Roma and
is roasted daily; hot teas are from Far Leaves in Berkeley,
iced tea and other spices are from the San Francisco Spice
Company. Our
bakers arrive at 3am every morning to bake from scratch the
breads, rolls, focaccia, pastries, pizza dough,
sorbetti, jams, ice creams & desserts.
The wines
of Rose’s Café are designed to complement
the food and provide a great value for our customers. The
wine list offers many selections by the glass and by the
bottle, and focuses on providing unique wines from Italy
and the United States’ best wine regions.
At least two
times a year Rose’s Café combines
the best of our food & our wine by offering a 4-course
paired wine dinner featuring one
of our premier wineries and profiling the food of that season.
